Q&A with Adrian Barclay,
What would be the hairstyle favoured by most brides today?
A simple off centred chignon with loose curl is very popular at he moment.
Make sure the style is not too big (think Charlize Theron) topped off with simple
accessories such as a jewelled head band or pearls.
Would you say the style is more modern or traditional?
The look is more directional but has a traditional vintage feeling. Old school
1930s Hollywood glamour is so hot right now
What colours (if any) are brides choosing for their big day?
Sun kissed highlighting is always flattering on most hair colours, but soft and
natural is always the way to go. If you are a natural red head give your hair a
boost and make it fiery and hot like Christina Hendricks. Timeless and classic is
always the best choice.
What are some of the latest wedding styles for 2012/2013?
Vintage 1930 is the latest trend along with a bohemian 60s and 70s beehive
influence. Finger waves, halo braids, long curls, headbands, hair broaches,
flowers, plaits, detailed buns utilizing sleek or soft and loose deconstructed
How important do you feel it is to have a trial hair-up before hand?
It is very important that the bride and hairstylist are on the same page so there
are no surprises for the big day. Allow at least a good hour and a half for a
full consultation and bring in your own inspirational pictures of your favourite
celebrity hairstyles. Hairpieces may be required to give you more hair and I think
doing your research on a hairstylist that you can feel confident with is important.
Which products would you suggest to brides to keep their hair looking
fabulous prior, during and after the wedding day?
L'Oréal Professionnel absolut repair shampoo and conditioner will ensure hair is in
optimum condition. Also my favourites for wedding hair are play ball beach fizz
sea salt spray for a tousled texture, L'Oréal Professionnel tecni.art fix design hairspray for
extra hold in the wind and tecni.art volume riche mousse for grip. On the day of the
wedding avoid shampooing your locks so your stylist can manage the hair more
easily. If you have oily hair use Kérastase Bain Divalent shampoo to rebalance the
scalp so it doesn't look greasy.
