THURSDAY 28th FEBRUARY -- SUNDAY 3rd MARCH
Snag Golf will once again be
attending the NZ PGA Open at
The Hills in Queenstown later
Located at the 19th hole, SNAG with
all it's bright coloured targets, velcro
balls and oversized clubs will be
providing interactive and fun activities
for the whole family to play. Not only
will you be able to play on the SNAG
Golf Course and SNAG Driving Range
but they will be running a variety of
activities throughout the day like a
SNAG Hole in one competition, The
SNAG Longest Drive and of course the
best score for the day on the SNAG
You will be asked for a gold coin
donation to play which will go directly
towards supporting Cure Kids which is
one of the tournament charities.
SNAG Golf is a modified version of golf
that introduces beginners to the game
in a way that is fun, easier to learn and
can be played almost anywhere.
SNAG's mission is to give every kiwi
kid the opportunity to play golf and
they are off to a great start, with over
5000 children in schools this year
already booked to receive the SNAG
So come on Central Otago, get down
and give SNAG a go, then you can say
" Yeah, I played at The Hills".
From scarcely being known about, to
having Sir Bob Charles on board as
Patron, and now a presence at the
NZPGA for the second consecutive
year, the journey of SNAG golf in New
Zealand is only just beginning.
With two passionate 'like-minded
people' behind the business in David
Thompson and Todd Statham and a
simple philosophy of promoting golf to
the younger generation New
Zealanders, using modified more
appropriate equipment that can be set
up and used in many environs, SNAG
Golf is not only easy to learn, it is also
easy to teach, and FUN to play!
SNAG contains all the elements of golf
but in a modified form and has been
developed through years of research
and field experience.
SNAG is a player friendly, first touch
development programme designed for
all. It incorporates developmentally
appropriate equipment that will allow
golf to be learned and played in non-
traditional venues, such as on a
soccer field, in a gym, or on the beach.
The programme builds on strong
fundamentals of the different strokes
and swings and develops playing
ability quickly and effectively.
SNAG can be taught and played
almost anywhere with immediate,
This immediate success keeps
beginners wanting to be involved with
golf. Expect to hear more about Snag
Golf in the future!
And to read about a CHAMP who had
their beginnings in this sport!
SNAG® Golf ('Starting New At Golf'), a
proven first touch player development
program designed for new learners of
all ages, was the winner of the
International Network of Golf (ING)
29th Industry Honours Awards at the
PGA Merchandise Show held in
Orlando, USA last week. SNAG Golf
captured the Player Development
Award, and was chosen over the
PGA's Tee It Forward and PGA
Professional Rick Grayson.
Called by some the "Academy Awards
of the Golf Industry," the ING Industry
Honours program recogniSes
outstanding achievement in the golf

When Jack Nicklaus's 22
grandchildren grew up being
more interested in other
sports, rather than in the sport of golf
that he loved and it in which he found
fame, he took as a personal
challenge, determined to expand the
game at grass-roots level.
For the past couple of years Nicklaus
has convened meetings with people to
brainstorm ideas for expanding the
game at grass-roots level.
After reviewing numerous formal and
informal proposals, Nicklaus decided
to put his considerable clout behind a
proposal to form golf leagues using
equipment designed by SNAG Golf.
Nicklaus's goal is to establish some
300 Learning leagues across the USA,
with a further 500 in 2014 and as
many as 1,000 additional local
programmes a year after that: all for
the development of golf.
And this exciting concept invented by
two former PGA Tour Pros, Terry Anton
and Wally Armstrong is now in New
Zealand and available to try.
''The main point of SNAG,'' Anton
said,'' is to serve as a feeder system
for every type of regular golf, with the
body movements and playing skills
required to succeed at SNAG the
saem as for regular
golf......................It's just a lot less
